HOW WE WORK
Proud to be one London’s most diverse boroughs.
We aim to be truly representative of the Southwark’s dynamic business demographic and enhance employment opportunities for its residents. We want to ensure that the chamber functions as a vital network run for and by local business people.
Run by volunteers
Our Executive Committee is made up of a dedicated team of volunteers with direct experience in doing business in Southwark. They create and manage our strategy for supporting members. Just like our members, the committee includes prominent and successful local business people, who are passionate about contributing to the commercial growth of Southwark. Our team has an interesting mix of business size, sector experience, gender and social background. This helps us to deliver a service which understands the business challenges and opportunities of a wide range of members.
We are a not-for-profit organisation. The money we make through our activities is re-invested back into the Chamber and goes into paying for events and administration. SCC is run by our members for our members.
Led by our members
The Chamber is administered by an Executive Committee of 16 enthusiastic members. We are a company limited by guarantee and the Chairman and two Vice-Chairs are the company directors. All positions are voluntary and unpaid. We work to unite and represent local businesses so that we can challenge, lobby and advise our local Council and Westminster on the most important issues facing our members.

Our objective is to build a chamber which truly represents Southwark’s diverse demographic. We are actively working to encourage membership from people of all gender, backgrounds, ability and age.
We aim to support the growth of businesses owned and run by Women, Ethnic Minorities, People with Disability and Young Entrepreneurs equally with those from the mainstream.
Become a volunteer
We welcome new ideas and members who are happy to give their time to develop the Chamber and help support the events and services we offer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please get in touch.
We work closely with a number of key local organisations, including Southwark Council and London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
