HOW WE WORK

Proud to be one London’s most diverse boroughs.
We aim to be truly representative of the Southwark’s dynamic business demographic and support local employment opportunities for its residents. We offer a network run for and by local business people.

Run by volunteers

Our Executive Committee is made up of a dedicated team of volunteers with direct experience of doing business in Southwark. They create and manage our strategy for supporting members. The committee includes prominent and successful local business people, who are passionate about contributing to the commercial growth of Southwark.

With interesting mix of business size, sector experience, gender and social background we can understand the business challenges and opportunities of a wide range of members.

We are a not-for-profit organisation. The money we make through our activities is reinvested into events and administration.

Led by our members

We are administered by an Executive Committee of 16 enthusiastic members. We are a company limited by guarantee and the Chairman and two Vice-Chairs are the company directors. All positions are voluntary and unpaid. We work to unite and represent local businesses and keep our members informed. We challenge, lobby and advise our local Council and Westminster on the most important issues facing our members.

We’re proud to have on board leading members of parliament and local councillors who support local business and the community.

We are privileged to have on board leading members of parliament and local councillors whose support of local business, the community and the Chamber is invaluable.

Diversity

Our objective is to build a chamber which truly represents Southwark’s diverse demographic. We are actively working to encourage membership from people of all gender, backgrounds, ability and age.

We aim to support the growth of businesses owned and run by Women, Ethnic Minorities, People with Disability and Young Entrepreneurs equally with those from the mainstream.

Become a volunteer

We welcome new ideas and members who are happy to give their time to develop the Chamber and help support the events and services we offer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please get in touch.
